Seamless data center migration for a leading industrial distributor

data center migration

Challenge

Operating one of the most complex and highly customized Avaya environments required a live data center move with zero tolerance for downtime. Deep integrations across voice, contact center, analytics, and unsupported legacy infrastructure significantly increased risk in a production environment.

Solution

Aura designed and executed a tightly controlled data center migration strategy, managing all planning, dependency mapping, and live cutover activities. Leveraging deep Avaya and contact center expertise, we coordinated the relocation of core systems and legacy components while maintaining operational continuity.

Outcome

The data center migration was completed without disruption to production systems or customer-facing operations. All voice, contact center, and analytics services remained fully operational, preserving business continuity throughout the transition.

A high-complexity Avaya environment migrated with precision

A leading industrial distributor relied on a mission-critical communications environment to support high-volume customer interactions and core business operations. Its footprint included a specialized Avaya contact center deployment, centralized management and control systems, advanced analytics, multiple adjunct applications, a large and heavily customized core infrastructure, and a legacy POD architecture that bundled servers, core components, and fiber infrastructure into a single WAN rack – all built on a deployment model no longer supported by Avaya.

With all systems running live in production, the organization needed to bring these tightly integrated components together and relocate them in a controlled data center migration after receiving late notice that its existing data center would be decommissioned. The breadth of platforms, legacy dependencies, and customization made the effort a major undertaking, requiring careful coordination to preserve stability and service continuity.

Aura partnered closely with the distributor months ahead of the move, guiding the project from architectural design through final execution. Detailed dependency mapping, risk mitigation planning, and sequencing strategies were developed to safely relocate each component – from core platforms, to appended applications and legacy components – in a live production environment.

During the cutover, Aura engineers worked through the night, addressing unexpected challenges in real time and ensuring each system was brought online cleanly and in sequence. With dedicated expert oversight and hands-on execution, the migration was completed successfully, reinforcing confidence in both the infrastructure and Aura’s technical leadership.

This project had no margin for error. Aura delivered exceptional execution in a live production environment, navigating extraordinary complexity with professionalism and precision.
